Success Conversations Video Series

Today Google Search for "people skills" shows "About 762,000,000 results" (in 2009 it was 66, 000,000).  However many pages there are currently referring to " people skills", the actual number of searches for people skills information is still relatively low.  For comparison Google Trends show these relative interests: Games = 56,  Justin Bieber = 7, Dating = 3, Relationship = 0 , and People Skills = 0 for March 2013 worldwide. Games had a high-highest search score of 100 in August 2008, Justin Bieber a high of 14 in May 2010, and Dating had a high of 14 in January 2006, but Relationship and People Skills have not yet been any higher than the bottom.

This week APAL released ten YouTube videos to help improve communications and relationships. Friends Talk series show friends talking about challenges and successes that include new involvement, anger control, activity, sleeping, confidence, self-esteem, game limits, dating- relationships, and focus-memory.  These give personal, social, & relationship tips for happiness in life, work, & love.  Business, labor and government authorities have agreed that wide-ranging people skills are necessary for 20th Century work success (SCANS).

Research has found that young people who develop speaking/listening skills not only have improved classroom behavior, but also less self-destructive and violent behavior (UNESCO). From the continual reports of incivility, unproductive outbursts, violent relations and missing community, there is a huge need to increase the range of people skills. And meeting that need requires innovations that motivate and enable better communications.

A large percent of the deaths in the United States can be attributed to psychosocial deficits in people skills for stress management and supportive social connection (APA).
